Music and wine...

The following is an article that i copied from the wine magazine "Decanter", May 2008 from Richard Woodard.

Rolling Stones with Syrah but Mozart with Merlot: lo and behold two indicative proposals of music that should accompany the wine the hour where we drink in order to we enjoy the better flavour!

According to research that became in the University of Edinburgh Heriot-Watt, on behalf of the wine making company of Chile Montes, the relation between music and flavour is direct, making thus the music accompaniment of dinner… exceptionally critical for the final flavour of wine.

Each type of music affects differently in each variety. Thus, according to the professor Adrian North, that was head of research, when you hear pieces as “Fortuna” from Karmina Mpourana of Orf  Cabernet Sauvignon of Montes it shows 60% (!) richer and bulky as long as when you try him without music.

Corresponding results it has also Chardonnay, that becomes at 40% crisper and cool with music accompaniment pop!

How did become the research? With the attendance of 250 individuals that was assembled in the building of university where they offered to them a glass wine. They drank in five rooms. In each one it played other music. In the end, it was asked to them to say their opinion for the wine that they drank. “It is widely known in the academic community that the wine influences the behavior”, says North, “but is the first time where it is proved scientifically that the music influences also other senses and changes the flavour of wine!”.

Aurelio Montes uses already the music in the productive process of his wine factory, playing monasterial anthems in the barrels that wear out the wines in made according to the beginnings feng sui his wine-cellar. It in deed very shortly thinks it adds musical proposals in the back side of his bottles that circulates per the world…
